Mera and Island Peak Climbing Overview
Mera and Island Peak are two famous peaks climbing in the Khumbu region. Mera and Island peaks combined with the Amphu Lapcha Pass trek provides a challenging and exciting expedition. It gives the highest quality trekking and climbing experience that is available in Nepal. Mera Island Peak climbing is an exceptional high altitude Himalayan adventure. The routes are classic and the position is both aesthetic and exposed.
Mera Peak is situated Northeast of Lukla, after a 30 minute scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, where the treks move toward Chutanga & Tangnang villages.
Island Peak is both lower in altitude than Mera Peak and technically demanding. It involves climbing 45 degree snow slopes and an exposed summit ridge. After Mera peak you move onto the easier Mera Peak summit. Following that ascent you head east exploring the less travelled route toward Makalu Base Camp in the wilderness of the Honku valley. You have to cross Amphu Lapcha pass which is at an elevation of 5700m to reach Island Peak base camp. The Panoramic summit of Island Peak climbing is a wondrous view that will stay in your memory forever.
After the Climb Mera/Island peak combo you will trek down through Pangboche, Tyangboche monastery, Namche then back to Lukla. It will take 28 days to finish the entire expedition. The perfect season to climb in this trail is during the spring (March to May) and during the fall (August to October).

Mera and Island Peak Climbing FAQs
Satori Adventures and Expedition aims at giving proper information to many travelers, trekkers and climbers who have some confusion regarding the booking process of the trip in Nepal. Satori Adventures therefore desires to provide guideline for the first-time visitors or travelers so that they can comfortably start the process to book the selected package legally. Before starting the booking process we always advise our trekkers, travelers and climbers to intelligently check whether the company is genuine and whether they are fully safe to travel in the company’s guidance. We ask them to be acquainted with the company they want book their holiday trip with. Is the company genuine and authorized from Government of Nepal, Office of the Company Registrar, Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Rastra Bank ‒Central Bank of Nepal (authorized for foreign currency), Permanent Account Number (PAN), and the Department of Cottage & Small Industries). Are they financially secured and environmentally conscious? We advise them to make sure about these formalities because there are some companies in Nepal that have been running business without abiding by the rules and regulation of the Government. Some companies were once registered but by now their licenses have already been expired and yet they have providing the services illegally.
On many occasions, Government of Nepal and Trekking Agency Association of Nepal have found that many foreigners’ tour operators, NGOs and INGOs have been involved in directly operating tours, trekking, and mountaineering holiday adventures without having government license and abiding by the Government rules. It has been also found that many individuals, freelance guides and porters have been arranging trips illegally by creating their own personal website. We have observed that many trekkers and climbers face a host of problems once they arrive in Kathmandu as they lack adequate information. Many of them file complaints to Government of Nepal and Trekking Agency Association of Nepal for legal action such as the refund of the advanced payment. There is hardly any justice given to the cheated clients. Thus, so as to prevent all these probable problems we request our travelers to check the company before booking any trip to the Himalayas.

Traveller Reviews
Thank you very much to Satori Adventures for making my Mera Peak Climbing Amazing .Everything was well planned and executed smoothly. This company provided outstanding customer service from I arrived in the Kathmandu Airport. They give me the warm greetings and take to the top rated hotel accommodations. During our tour the company is very organized and professional. The Staffs (Office staff, Trekking guide, Sherpa’s) was very experienced and knowledgeable. They make my entire experience in Nepal exceeded my expectations thanks to Satori Adventures.
I would highly recommend them when planning a trip to Nepal.
We climbed and have treks may times with Rishi's team. It was great everytime: Mera Peak, Manaslu round trip, ...
We encourage everyone who wants to discover this so nice country and high mountains paradise to join Rishi's company.
We have beeb accompanied with Bibek and other guides. All the time they were very profesional
I had spoken to some friends who had already trekked and climbed with Satori Adventures. They had nothing but good things to say about their experiences and the company Managing Director Rishi Bandhari. I decided to book my own trek and climb of Mera Peak. As it turned out, the people who were supposed to be part of my group upon arrival in Kathmandu cancelled their trip last minute do to serious health complications. This was totally beyond the control of Rishi Bhandari and his excellent team at Satori Adventures. Against my better judgement, I started the journey on my own and after a few days on the mountain with my "private" guide and porter, I decided to come back down and abandon my journey. My trip could have ended very badly but it was not the case. Rishi proposed a new trip agenda that would allow me to see other parts of the country including the Chitwan National Park and also visit Pokhara and do some nice trekking on the start of the Annapurna Trail. I didn't end up on the top of Mera Peak as originally planned but my trip was a great success nonetheless. The people at Satori Adventures are amazing and I wouldn't hesitate to book another trip through them or highly recommend this company to friends and people who may be looking for a great company to organize their next trip or adventure.
I did Mera Peak Climb through Satori Adventures. Rishi the owner of company is amazing and very easy to deal with. He customized Itinerary according to our requirements. There were last minute changes which Rishi was helpful with and worked to accommodate the same. Rishi was always available to respond to any questions. We had amazing guide with us through the climb and all tea house and everything along the way was good and we had a amazing climb. Would highly recommend Satori and Rishi. My wife and Mom were also in Katmandu doing sight seeing around Pokhara, Chitwan etc and Rishi worked out a very good travel itinerary for them as well and accommodated all our requests. So highly recommend Satori Adventures.
Satori organized the 40 day trip to Nepal for me and a good friend of mine. After Rishi's first proposal of a shorter and more generic trip to EBC with Lobuche East and Island peak, we asked for a longer and more challenging experience with a custom route. This was no problem at all (at a new price, of course), and Rishi came up with some extra program to complete our experience. In the end we started with a short 3-day trekking to Mohare Dada / Poon Hill near Pokhara and then flew to the Everest region. There we started with the classic 3 passes trekking which was planned to be extended with Island Peak, Amphu Laptsa pass and Mera Peak. Because of fatigue and bad weather, we decided on the way to descend back to Lukla before finally summitting Mera Peak and omit Amphu Laptsa. This added quite some extra costs to the trip which Rishi kindly didn't charge at all. Instead, we enjoyed several meals together in Kathmandu and received free gifts with a nice surprise at the end. Our Sherpa guide(s) (one for trekking and two for climbing), two porters and cooks at the camps always were very friendly, helpful, attentive, motivating and professional and did their best to ensure we had a great time in the mountains. We hope to return to Nepal one day and extend our experience together with Satori.
Satori organised a fantastic expedition to climb Mera peak and Baruntse - everything was spot on, the planning for the expedition, the tea houses used on the trek in and out, and of course the quality of my climbing Sherpa (Nurbu), who was fantastic! I couldn’t recommend Satori more, and when I return to Nepal, they will be my first port of call. Thank you Rishi for organising such a super expedition, I will remember it always. Tristan
